Traditional designs of brassware remain one of the most expensive form of taps you can purchase. The designs are quirky, the mechanics are simple and the finish is durable and long lasting.
Old fashioned ‘looking’ brassware is readily available at most major manufacturers, but the design doesn’t guarantee the quality. In fact, if built badly and purchased cheaply the traditional designs have more opportunities to go wrong, so you really do get what you pay for. If you want to keep your property traditional, or perhaps instil a classical theme in your modern home, then it’s worth investing.
The best thing about high quality brass is that it weathers so well (if looked after) and looks better with age. Manufacturers are trying to replicate this by offering a variety of finishes, including English bronze, nickel, pewter and satin brass.
